The fourth season of the critically praised sport-documentary Welcome to Wrexham is soon to release on the 16th of May, on Disney+ and it’s coming with a two-episode launch.

In case you’re behind, in 2020 Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds teamed up with Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenny to purchase the Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C. A team that once played in the Championship league, that had been relegated down to the lowest paying professional league of football in the UK.

Since, the purchasing of the club though, Ryan & Rob have had great success and now see the team playing in the English Football League’s League One for the first time in 20 years. Receiving back-to-back promotions, Wrexham as of the time of writing this, sit in second place in League 1with only 5 matches left before the regular season ends. By the time season 4 of Welcome to Wrexham drops on the 16th of May, Wrexham may have already secured promotion back into the Championship league, a promise the Hollywood pair made before purchasing the club.

History could be made any day now, how often can you say a team that started in the Championship league falls all the way to the bottom, only to climb back up in such a short turn around. Jumping from the National League to the Championship league all within 2021 to now is a ridiculously commendable achievement.

You can catch Welcome to Wrexham when it returns for season 4 on Disney+ on May 16th.
