UOW sounds alert over micro-plastics

Environmental engineers from The University of Wollongong have uncovered evidence that the current process of recycling plastic, is creating and releasing more ‘micro-plastics’ into the environment.

UOW said micro-plastics have been found in everything – in plants, animals, our food, our bodies and almost everywhere on the planet.

The Uni said researchers and the recycling industry need to work more closely to find ways to effectively contain the micro-plastics that facilities emit.
