As we prepare for the temps in the Illawarra to climb into the 30’s today, the Rural Fire Service has posted a High Fire Danger for the Illawarra.
The RFS advises that the high rating affects the Wollongong, Shellharbour, and Kiama Council areas, the Bureau of Meteorology says NNW winds will keep the temperatures high with the warmer than average weather stretching right through till Sunday.
A high fire danger also means all ‘burn permits’ are suspended.
Surf lifesavers don’t want to see lives lost, adding to 28 coastal drowning’s over summer, beachgoers are again urged to understand their limits, and to swim at a patrolled beach.
