Report indicates mining’s economic contribution

Results from the NSW Minerals Council’s latest annual Member Expenditure Survey, indicate mining’s continued important economic role in the Illawarra.

The Council said in the last financial year, participating mining companies directly injected $1.1 billion into the Illawarra economy.

That’s an increase of around $100 million on the previous year, and the third highest survey result since the survey was first conducted in 2012.
