SafeWork NSW is now investigating Tuesday’s incident in Port Kembla, where a number of gas cylinders ignited at an industrial facility.
Fire and Rescue NSW advised that once it isolated the gas cylinders, which contained the highly flammable, and potentially explosive ‘acetylene’, the last cylinder burnt-out was found to be ‘decomposing’.
Dozens of firefighters, including hazardous materials experts, responded to the incident and protected surrounding buildings.
