NSW SES receives 300 wind damage call-outs

The NSW State Emergency Service has had a busy weekend with volunteers responding to 300 incidents since Friday afternoon. Wind gusts exceeding 93km/hour brought down trees and parts of roofs and balconies. Volunteers are still active today assisting with the clean-up.

The storm damage has been localised across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and the Highlands –
Wollongong – 37 incidents
Shellharbour City – 32 incidents
Kiama – 26 incidents
Dapto – 23 incidents

The majority of incidents received by the NSW SES relate to trees down on roads and properties and roof damage. There have been no reports of any significant damage to public infrastructure.

NSW SES Assistant Commissioner Nicole Hogan said while the weather has eased, it is important the public prepare for future events.
