NSW Maritime has praised the actions of two boaters on Lake Illawarra, who came to the aid of a family of five in distress, after their kayaks capsized at Windang Channel.
Around 1pm on Sunday, 12 January 2025, the family got into trouble, with NSW Maritime crews, and current South’s player and Wollongong local Jayden Sullivan involved in the rescue.
Boating Safety Officer Bryant has praised the boaters for their quick thinking, and the family for avoiding a potentially tragic outcome by all wearing lifejackets.

“A massive thanks to the family involved in retrieving the young girl from the water and to Jayden for their help,” Boating Safety Officer Bryant said.
