About 3.46pm on Tuesday, Fire and Rescue NSW Station Shellharbour, Duty Commander Fire and Rescue NSW Illawarra Command MS1 and Fire Rescue NSW Station Albion Park responded to reports of a house fire at Mount Warrigal.
Albion Park’s Tanker and Shellharbour’s Tanker on-call firefighters also attended to support the permanent firefighters.
On arrival, firefighters found a two story townhouse with the second floor fully engulfed and quickly commenced firefighting inside the townhouse, the fire was upgraded and further resources were called from Fire and Rescue NSW Station Warrawong, Dapto, Kiama, Wollongong and Shellharbour Hazmat.
On arrival, the Wollongong Ladder Platform commenced firefighting from above the townhouse, around 6pm the fire was contained and Corrimal crews monitored the property overnight.
Lake Illawarra Police attended and are investigating the fire.
