Behind the Scenes – SOILCO Tour
Get ready for National Recycling Week (11 – 17 November) with a special opportunity for 60 lucky Wollongong Council residents!
SOILCO ‘The Life-Giving Soil Company’ is offering a behind-the-scenes tour of its Kembla Grange Compost Manufacturing Facility on Saturday, 16 November. This is a chance to see how your FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) waste is recycled into soil and compost products that benefit the environment.
The first 60 residents to register will secure a spot on the tour. SOILCO, a local family-founded business, has been operating for 50 years and is dedicated to transforming FOGO waste into valuable resources. Attendees will also receive a bag of compost to take home and use in their garden.
To qualify, attendees must be 15 or older, not have attended a SOILCO tour before, and be residents of Wollongong City Council Government Area. Each household can send a maximum of two people, and attendees should wear enclosed footwear and long pants.
Remember to arrive 10 minutes before the tour starts. If you can’t make the tour, check out the videos on the Wollongong City Council website for a virtual experience of the FOGO and composting process at SOILCO. Visit Wollongong.nsw.gov.au/fogo for more information.
