Sometimes cars break down in ways that make total sense. An old engine, a worn-out alternator, low oil levels. And then, sometimes, cars break down in ways that make no sense.
This vehicle was over heating after the owner drove through water during the 2025 North Queensland flood event. The car had to be towed into the shop and hoisted up for inspection.
That’s when ‘Double-D’ mechanic, Dean, spotted a fish tail hanging from the engine bay. Turns out an entire fish had got itself stuck in the radiator fan.
“I’ve seen some weird things,” Dean admitted, but he probably didn’t expect to see this slippery little culprit. The team couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it. It wasn’t just a bit of fish stuck in there – it was a whole, intact fish. He finishes the video saying…
“If it’s flooded, forget it. Unless you’re hungry.”
While Dean’s parting words were meant as a joke, this story carries an important safety message. Driving through floodwaters is not just risky for your vehicle; it’s a serious hazard to your life. After all, the customer had a breakdown and it’s lucky this didn’t happen in the water
Floodwaters can rise quickly, sweep vehicles off the road, and leave drivers stranded – or worse. No matter how confident you feel about your car’s capabilities, it’s worth remembering that…
“Your car can’t protect you from floodwater.”
