Information from the NSW Government indicates that the community has thrown its support behind a proposal for south-facing ramps on the M1 Princes Motorway at Dapto, with 97 per cent of more than 4000 respondents in favour.

The ramps will improve safety, efficiency and connectivity between Dapto, surrounding suburbs, and the M1 Motorway.

Transport for NSW conducted community consultation on the south facing ramps between 11 December 2023 and 12 February 2024, receiving 3851 completed surveys, 318 pins on the online mapping tool and 63 submissions.

Through the feedback, 97 per cent of respondents supported the south-facing ramps saying they believe the ramps would enhance access to the motorway and reduce congestion.

Community responses detailed current travel patterns, preferred ramp locations and suggested improvements, all of which will inform next steps of the planning process.

Early planning work for the south facing ramps includes strategic modelling of the broader road network. The results of these technical investigations will be used alongside consultation insights to inform potential locations for additional ramps and determine the impacts to the local road and motorway network.
