Kiama Council’s Mayor and Councillors have endorsed an increase in their fees for the 2023-24 financial year.
The Local Government Remuneration Tribunal has determined an increase of 3 per cent to mayor and councillor fees.
In making its determination, the Tribunal has acknowledged a lack of diversity in representation, the changing nature of work required to be undertaken and changed community expectations.

The Tribunal has supported a comprehensive review of the framework for mayor and councillor remuneration, as part of the NSW Government’s examination of the broader issues facing local government.
The determination means the following remuneration:
- Councillors – $21,730
- Mayor – $69,150 ($21,730 councillor fee plus additional fee of $47,420)
